  1. Ivonne, I had decided to take a year away from TRIs because I had a bad bike wreck in a an early season race that left me with some fractures that needed time to heal. It was a good year to re-group, but I really missed the fellow athletes. I just looked at the race results from Nationals last week and didn’t see your name (yes, I’ve been WAY out of the net). Then I became curious and thought you left us for Track and Field. I am sorry to hear of/read about your diagnosis and difficult treatment. I know you are facing this with all the energy and will you’ve got. I couldn’t imagine you any other way. Please know I am sending you all my positive energy and prayers and good wishes. If there is anything I can do for you or John, or your family, please please, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m in Alexandria, VA, but whatever you need, please know I’m here. My very biggest hugs and compassion. Patty

    • Dear Patty,

Thank you so much for your beautiful message and get-well wishes. I hope you are healing well from your bike accident earlier this year.

I was in NYC for most of September going through follow-ups with my team of Doctors. Each day is a brand new day, and I am greatful for the chance I have to enjoy each new day! I am definitely fighting hard, and I am seeing progress everyday as I get stronger! 🙂 This is a good year/time to regroup! 🙂

I am looking forward to seeing us both back out racing Tris next season!

      All My Best,

      • Ivonne, I didn’t get an alert you responded, so I went here to check again and viola! you left me a wonderful note in response. I was just getting ready to tell you I’ll be in NYC for the marathon in a few weeks, cheering on my cousin. She just turned 40 and this is her second marathon. I’m so excited for her. Anyway, I was hoping to share a cup of tea with you (or whatever) but maybe you are back in California (where it is WARM) Still sending you energy and positive thoughts!!!!! sincerely, Patty
